When White communities fall prey to opioids, we call it a “crisis.” When Black and Brown men smoke weed, we get the War on Drugs. Thousands of lives have been ruined thanks to over-policing in our communities, with no progress to show for it.

Legalizing marijuana isn’t just about recreational use — it’s about righting past wrongs and creating new opportunities for communities of color. By legalizing weed, we can put an end to the systemic discrimination that our communities have been facing for far too long. It’s time to rewrite outdated laws and build a fairer future for all.
